2010 International Corporate Citizenship Conference

The conference, titled "Corporate Citizenship: Winning a Seat at the Table", will focus on business strategy, best practices, and trends related to the role companies play in society and the value of having these efforts integrated across the company. This is the largest conference that focuses exclusively on the corporate citizenship challenges business faces. The conference is expected to attract 500 business professionals who will network, learn about the latest trends, share best practices and discuss how the difficult economic times are influencing their business. Attendees registering now can take advantage of an "early bird" discount rate.

Speakers will represent different perspectives and priorities for companies committed to making a positive contribution to society. UPS Chief Financial Officer Kurt Kuehn plays an instrumental role in his company as the head of its cross-functional Sustainability Committee. "Economic cycles come and go," says Kuehn, "but companies thrive over time by investing in new growth opportunities, minimizing financial risks and delivering more value to customers and shareholders."

Examining corporate citizenship with a public policy lens will be Kathryn C. Brown, Verizon's senior vice president, Public Policy Development and Corporate Responsibility. "Technology can have a profound impact on solving big social issues," according to Brown. "By helping people work smarter, faster and build new communities, we can make lives better and give business a new model for delivering services."

Dan Roam, author of what BusinessWeek and Fast Company called the best innovation book of the year, will share his expertise in using visual thinking to solve complex business problems. His book, "The Back of the Napkin: Solving Problems and Selling Ideas with Pictures", has been published in 25 languages and is a bestseller in Japan, South Korea and China.

The winner of the second annual Corporate Citizenship Film Festival will be announced at the April 12 conference dinner featuring award-winning producer John Hoffman, vice president of HBO Documentary Films. All corporate members of the Boston College Center may submit a video. Non-member companies are eligible if a representative is attending the conference.
