About the governance of institutions
The recent headlines are not just about “corporate governance.” Not-for-profits, healthcare organizations, religious governance structures, and other institutions that make up what Professor Peter Drucker named “The Social Sector” are being influenced and directly affected by the same waves of reform as those sweeping the Private, for-profit (corporate) sector. The social sector has had its own share of governance scandals and missteps – for example, a decade ago, the national chief of the United Way was prosecuted for his role in the organization’s well-publicized financial irregularities.
